Amanda's thoughts:
I do have to say that it was the longest plane ride of my life but it
was totally worth it! As soon as we landed and greeted by Fellowship of
Maceio I felt love. The best part of the trip was the people. The beach
was nice and the shopping was fun but the people are absolutely my
favorite. Whether they are old or young, they are loving and accepting.
The kids at the orphange were so beautiful and were so excited to
hangout with us. We didn't communicate too well but it didn't matter,
connections were still made and bonds formed. Seeing the kids receive
gifts was so cool. Even though it was a small item, they were totally
grateful.
When I think of Brazil, I think of the most loving and accepting people I have ever met. I think of joyful people who truly cherish the smallest things and never take blessings for granted. I had an idea of what Brazil would be like because my sister had told me countless stories on what to except and what she encountered last year. But one cannot truly comprehend Brazil until they have been there themself. The trip to Brazil was GREAT!
My thoughts:
I was blessed again this year, and it was harder to say goodbye this year. We were able to develop great friendships with many of the people from the church, and I was sad to think that I won't see them again for awhile. I'm most of all glad that my sister got to come this year. I'm hoping mom and dad will make it out there next year.
I'm excited to see the Fellowship of Maceio completed and doors opened! I can't wait to hear stories of people coming to check out the new church and hopefully beginning to know God. The people of Brazil truly have abundant love in their hearts and I miss them greatly already! I pray that I don't forget the memories from these past two years, and that I'll get to see all of my Brazillian friends on my next trip out there.
